2009 Subaru Wrx Sti Top Speed

Anyone know what the top speed of a stock wrx is? I read in a magazine that the top speed of the sti is 145mph governed. My friends ask me what mine is and I'm not sure so I can't give them an answer. I've only taken mine up to 120-125mph don't really want to go faster than that cause of cops and not so safe on public road. Did a search could not find anything.

I had mine to either 125 or 135 and it was scary. I think top speed is 135

i have no idea what it is and i have been wondering cause out speedometer says 140 and the needle just gets burried.

I don't belive your car can do 110 let alone 140.
stock wrx's aren't excatly cumfy > 100 mph

120 is ok, but anything faster than that is dangerous? :confused1

manuals are drag limited, at least the 02-03's are. when i was stock i hit a wall when i shifted to from 4th to 5th at 125, now with catless and mbc i have got up to 137 so far then stopped but i could have kept going but i was accelerating really slowly. 5th gear sucks.

never been past 125 mph but every time I get to about 120 I let off.

I've gone over 160 but I'm not quite stock.
I hit ~145 at stage 2.

Just shy of ~143 or so (speedo was buried) on I-75 North here in KY. Some idiot in a '99 Eclispe GS (NA version) was being an a$$ on the interstate and was cutting people off and passing in the left emergency lane. I saw him coming up behind me weavinga ll over the place. So I let him go slightly by me and when we got to an open stretch of the interstate I opened it up and decided to let him know that I wasnt going to let him do that to me.
That is the first and only time I have had it that high...I have had short bursts to 120-125 but that is it.

Car & Driver's long term test car (no rear wing) hit 145, and another of their test cars (with a wing) hit 139.

Right in front of my house is flat 1/4 mile stretch with long sweeping corners on each end, you can enter the stretch at well over 80 and exit at the same pace 
how luck am I?
I have had mine up to 145 and let off at that point as I ran out of road. I dont know if they are speed limited or not, but 145 was plenty fast.
I have an 02 wrx sedan bone stock engine wise with the stock "small wing".

No offense guys, but the stock speedo isn't exactly accurate at those speeds.
Never done a "top speed run" in my car. Not wise on public roads.

Neither is street racing but people do it anyways.. :wiggles:

on a hella long unpopulated back road which is straight and flat with nothing around just low grass fields in day light i had my needle hit the odometer,and yes this is bad but my buddy on the police force with radar got 163mph reading. that was a once in a lifetime deal ,and has never been repeated as it felt as if i was going to get lift off but i am modded to and my my cars rev limit was increased 500rpm over stock

Prolly shouldnt say this,
But Ive caught myself at 100 not knowing it a few times. My car is fast and smooth. Ive had it up to 110 and it wasnt doing anything other than sailing smoothly. Theres a lot of great flat open road in NH and maine that is deserted past 10PM. Just dont hit a moose.

I easily got up to 120 in the rex. Without a really long straight stretch of freeway I dont see getting much over 130 in stock form. (Highways are not very flat and straight up here). As stated below as well, the faster you go the more inaccurate your stock speedo gets. It will often read faster than you are actually going. Ive got a GPS on my Palm and it gives you very accurate speed readings. Ill do a run sometime to see how car off the speedo is at those high speeds.
